Dame Judi Takes Part in Anti-War Concert
Dame Judi Dench appeared on stage on Sunday night as part of an
anti-war concert and belted out "Cabaret" - 35 years after
she first starred in the musical.
Die Another Day star Dame Judi won roars of approval from the audience
as she threw herself into the number. Dame Judi, 68, says, "I
feel very strongly about the war. I think there are other ways of
going about things. I suppose my generation is the last that remembers
the Second World War. And I am so happy that so many people came
out tonight."
Also participating was The Lord Of The Rings actor Sir Ian McKellan,
who read Suicide In The Trenches by First World War poet Siegfried
Sassoon.
The London Concert For Peace was held in the capital's Theatre Royal
Drury Lane and drew a 1,200 strong audience.
